6. Alijah Martin (Florida Atlantic)

For the last four seasons Martin was a major part of the breakthrough success for basketball at Florida Atlantic. His junior year saw him become a key performer in that amazing run to the Final Four for the Owls. Like most of his teammates, he was back in Boca Raton this past season and put up very satisfactory numbers as a senior in a new conference, aiding Florida Atlantic as they joined the AAC.

This would mark three straight seasons with similar numbers for Martin, who averaged 13.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, albeit with shooting numbers that took a slight step back from last season. He claimed Second Team All-AAC honors, with great offensive metrics as he helped lead the Owls to second place in the AAC. He was the third-leading scorer for those Owls and couldn’t replicate the postseason success, but certainly showcased his talent throughout the year.

Martin played well during the ESPN Events Invitational, with 25 points and 7 rebounds against Texas A&M and a 17-point effort versus Virginia Tech. He was important during the Owls’ first year in their new league, including 26 points against UTSA and a string of nice performances during a rocky February. Unfortunately, the Owls faltered early in both the AAC and NCAA Tournaments, though we’ll see Martin against next season at nearby Florida.
