5. Norchad Omier (Miami FL)

Back when he was a sophomore at Arkansas State, Omier was named Sun Belt Player of the Year and certainly looked like a significant frontcourt weapon. His junior season at Miami showed that this was the case, aiding the Hurricanes on a wild ride to the Final Four. While this past season was nothing close to that success in Coral Gables, Omier put up even better numbers in year two with the Hurricanes.

Omier averaged 17.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game, making it four straight seasons averaging at least a double-double in his career. He became more of an outside threat, making 35% of his 3-pointers with decent interior metrics as well. Though his shot blocking numbers weren’t as impressive this season, he was still named Second Team All-ACC and was one of the league’s top rebounders again.

While the Hurricanes finished 14th in the ACC, their leading scorer and rebounder had plenty of standout efforts. Omier had at least 20 points on twelve different occasions, most notably with 33 points and 10 rebounds in a road win at Notre Dame. He hit 17 rebounds on two occasions, including in the regular season finale against Florida State, though he alone wasn’t enough for a Hurricanes squad that took a giant step backwards. Things could look pretty different for him at Baylor next year.
