2. Caleb Love (Arizona)

Much ado was made about Love, a former 5-star prospect, during his first three collegiate seasons. He spent those at North Carolina but sought a change. He’s coming off a pretty fantastic senior season out west at Arizona, with the former Tar Heel certainly living up to his billing while playing in the Pac-12 with these Wildcats.

Despite being new to this Arizona lineup, Love wasted no time asserting himself, averaging 18.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. Not only did he lead the Wildcats in scoring, the newcomer was also named Pac-12 Player of the Year for his phenomenal season. He did everything Arizona needed out of him, played cleaner basketball, and showed up when the moment called for it.

Among the memorable moments in a 29-win season, Love was a walking bucket throughout the early season but really shined with 36 points at Oregon in late January. He helped lead Arizona to the Sweet Sixteen, scoring at least 18 points in their two Tourney wins; with the Wildcats avoiding a repeat of last year’s upset. Love benefited from a change of scenery after last season was stale at North Carolina and really did stand out at the national level once again.
