Honorable Mentions

Rueben Chinyelu (Washington State)

An intriguing young prospect originally from Nigeria, Chinyelu showed potential as a freshman this year at Washington State. He averaged 4.7 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks in limited minutes with the Cougars, actually finishing among the Pac-12’s leaders in blocked shots. He started several games throughout the season and helped take this program to their first Big Dance in more than a decade, with plenty of good ahead in his career.

Tariq Francis (NJIT)

A guard from Pittsburgh, Francis landed at NJIT this past offseason to begin his collegiate career, and he got things off to a fast start. While the Highlanders would struggle greatly this season, Francis stood out with 14.8 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. He was named America East Rookie of the Year with really solid numbers all around, including decent shooting figures, and will hope to build on that in the future.

Adam Hamilton (Lamar)

This was the first full season at the D1 level for Hamilton, who played at the junior college level and then missed most of his actual junior season with the Cardinals. This past season he was quite beneficial for Lamar, putting up 10.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Hamilton became a starter in the Cardinals’ frontcourt, aiding the program to a 4th place finish in the Southland while finishing Top 10 in the league in rebounds, blocks, and several efficiency metrics.

Sean Hansen (Cornell)

Hansen has shown signs of promise these last few seasons while at Cornell. He just completed his third season with the Big Red, averaging 8.8 points and 3.5 rebounds while making a career-best 53% of his field goal attempts. He was a starting forward and big piece of a breakout season for Cornell, as the program won 22 games and finished 2nd in the Ivy League. Hansen will look to build on these solid figures at George Washington next season, having exhausted his eligibility in the Ivy League.
