10. B. J. Omot (North Dakota)

Not a ton of attention is paid to basketball in the northernmost part of the United States. Omot is a native of Minnesota who played well at the high school level and caught the eye of nearby North Dakota. He’s spent just a pair of seasons at the collegiate level but has proven that he belongs in this game, with pretty solid numbers as an underclassman in the Summit League.

After showing great potential as a freshman, Omot averaged 16.7 points and 4.2 rebounds as a sophomore for the Fighting Hawks. Not only did he become the program’s leading scorer, he also helped lead North Dakota to a nice season, finishing 2nd in the Summit League during an 18-win campaign. His standout success earned him First Team All-Summit League honors, finishing among the leaders in points and blocks.

Omot greatly impacted a nice season for the Fighting Hawks. He scored 24 points in a season-opening loss to Iowa and had 21 points and 10 rebounds against Elon a few days later. He’d help North Dakota to a nice start to the year and later dropped 30 points in a road win against Kansas City. Omot had numerous 20-point affairs during Summit League Play, though he and his Fighting Hawks fell to Denver early in the conference tournament.
