NCAA Basketball: Top 10 players to wear jersey No. 20 in 2023-24 season
By Joey Loose
9. Harlond Beverly (Wichita State)
Prior to this season Beverly had spent the last four years in the ACC at Miami. Originally from Detroit, he was a Top 100 prospect who just didn’t turn into a high-profile prospect with the Hurricanes, though he did play briefly in their run to the Final Four lasts season. His fifth and final season would finally see him step up in a more significant role after transferring to Wichita State.
A major part of the action for the Shockers, Beverly averaged 11.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game in his first season after leaving Miami. While the Shockers finished just 10th in the AAC, Beverly certainly had the best and most productive season of his career, finishing just outside the Top 10 in his new league in assists and steals. When the dust settled on the season, it was a great effort from Beverly even if the team around him didn’t exactly soar.
There were a number of notable performances for Beverly, including his 12-point, 17-rebound affair in a tough loss at Missouri back in early December. He actually settled into a vital role once AAC play started, including double-digit scoring efforts in their final seven games. Beverly scored 18 in a win against UTSA, 23 against Rice, and had 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals, and 5 blocks in an upset win over Memphis in the conference tournament.
