7. Clarence Daniels (New Hampshire)

The road has been anything but straight forward for Daniels, though his story has had a happy ending. Before catching on at the D1 level, he spent two seasons at Montana State-Billings before a year in North Dakota at Lake Region State College. The Minnesota native got his shot in D1 far from home, but really settled in as a playmaker and game changer for the Wildcats in New Hampshire.

After averaging a double-double in year one, Daniels was even more impressive as a senior for the Wildcats, putting up 19.4 points and 9.6 rebound a game. New Hampshire would finish 4th in the America East with another solid performance, though Daniels’ contributions wouldn’t be forgotten. The conference’s rebounding leader, he was named America East Player of the Year for those numbers and his impact on basketball at New Hampshire.

Daniels dropped 36 points on Brown in just the third game of the season, a sign of what was to come in an impressive season. He’d have 27 points in a road upset at Rhode Island and topped 30 twice more during league play. Among the most notable effort was a 32-point, 12-rebound effort in a road win at UMass Lowell. While his Wildcats were bested three times by Vermont, it’s clear that Daniels stood out as this year’s premier player in the America East.
