NCAA Basketball: Top 10 players to wear jersey No. 22 in 2023-24 season
By Joey Loose
4. Isaiah Crawford (Louisiana Tech)
No matter how you look at it, this was a breakthrough season for Crawford, who put his heart and soul into basketball at Louisiana Tech. He arrived on campus five years ago and played a growling role for these Bulldogs, though he did miss most of his third season. This past senior season was his fourth full year at Louisiana Tech and he showed another marked improvement, helming a Bulldogs squad that stood out in the new-look CUSA.
Crawford averaged 16.3 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game while nailing 41% of his 3-pointers. His stats alone were gaudy and impressive while also taking Louisiana Tech to 2nd place and another 20-win campaign. His impressive work earned him numerous honors, including both CUSA Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. After all, he finished near the very top of the league in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks.
Crawford stood out many times in this remarkable season. He had 24 points at Louisiana-Monroe and helped deliver a nice win over McNeese State. A 22-point, 7-block outing against Liberty during league play was followed up by a 30-point performance over Jacksonville State. He played his best ball against his conference opponents, though the Bulldogs were upended early in the CUSA Tournament. We’ll see what kind of professional career awaits him, though he certainly exhibited plenty of potential.
