9. Warren Washington (Texas Tech)

It’s certainly been a long and eventful collegiate career for Washington, who not only played at four colleges but wore three different numbers on his back. He spent most of his career as #22, including as a bench piece at Oregon State as a freshman. Washington then sat out a year and transferred to Nevada, prospering there until heading to Arizona State. His fourth school became Texas Tech this past offseason and he brought a certain presence to this Red Raiders squad.

While Washington would miss much of the end of his senior season, he did average 9.7 points and 7.4 rebounds a game in his season in Lubbock. He made 62% of his field goals and stood out as one of the more prominent rebounders and shot blockers in the Big 12. He helped put the Red Raiders in a great position, as Texas Tech would finish 3rd in the Big 12 and get back to the NCAA Tournament, even though Washington himself miss several weeks before the Big Dance.

It’s important to remember that Washington wasn’t a dominant figure but that’s not what the Red Raiders needed. He had 18 points and 12 rebounds in a nice performance against Oral Roberts but would come up clutch in league play too. Washington dropped 16 points in a win over Oklahoma State and later had 19 in an even more important win over BYU. After missing nearly a month, he had 6 points and 8 rebounds in limited minutes against NC State in the Big Dance to finish his career.
