6. Amari Williams (Drexel)

An impressive frontcourt player during his years in the CAA, Williams just completed his senior season and fourth year at Drexel. He came from England and played a very minor role as a freshman, adjusting to America and the college basketball experience, but things have been different since then. Williams has developed into a monstrous athlete, standing out as one of the best players in the CAA in recent years.

This senior season saw him average 12.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game for the Dragons. Though these numbers were a slight step down from junior year, Williams helped Drexel to a 20-win campaign and a 2nd place finish in the league. As a result, he was not only named First Team All-CAA again, he earned his third consecutive Defensive Player of the Year honor in the conference. He has stood alone as the premiere defensive force in the CAA.

One of the nation’s best defensive players also had some pretty fine offensive performances during this year for the Dragons. He had 18 points and 11 rebounds in an early win at Winthrop and dropped 19 on Old Dominion in late November. Williams played a key role in the program’s upset win against Villanova and provided several double-doubles during league play. After proving himself in this league in recent years, Williams will spend his fifth and final season at Kentucky.
