3. Hunter Sallis (Wake Forest)

A 5-star recruit from Omaha, Sallis joined Gonzaga in 2021 and became a bench contributor on a pair of very talented teams in Spokane. Sallis actually didn’t start a single game in his first two seasons, though he did get plenty of experience with that program. He chose to transfer for his junior year and found a new home with Wake Forest on the opposite coast. His impact for the Demon Deacons would be significant even with making the jump to the ACC.

Sallis took full advantage of his opportunity, putting up 18.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game for Wake Forest this season. Sallis made 40% of his 3-pointers, was an offensive demon, and actually led the ACC in minutes per game. As a result, he earned First Team All-ACC honors as one of the league’s best scorers, long-range shooters, and total players. Wake Forest won 21 games and notched a 5th place finish in the ACC and it’s not shocking to hear that Sallis was a big reason.

Back in November, Sallis had at least 20 points in all three of the team’s games at the Charleston Classic and would score 24 in a nice win against Florida a few weeks later. ACC play was also full of memories, as Sallis would score 33 points in a win over NC State and keyed an upset over Duke with a 29-point performance. Most importantly, Sallis was consistent throughout the season, including in the NIT, though he’d miss the season finale after an injury.
