NCAA Basketball: Top 10 players to wear jersey No. 24 in 2023-24 season
By Joey Loose
10. Igor Milicic (Charlotte)
Originally from Croatia, Milicic came to American and began his collegiate career in the ACC at Virginia. However, he wasn’t much of a contributor off the bench in his freshman year with the Cavaliers and opted to transfer. Milicic landed at Charlotte and showed potential as a sophomore but really took a measured step forward this past season; helping lead the 49ers into the AAC from the CUSA
This junior year saw Milicic average 12.8 points and 8.5 rebounds a game, becoming a full-time starter in Charlotte’s frontcourt. He made 38% of his 3-pointers, 82% of his free throws, and was the second-leading scorer on a 49ers team that actually finished third in their initial season in the AAC. His brilliant campaign earned him Third Team All-AAC honors while sitting among the league’s best in rebounds, true shooting percentage, and a few defensive metrics as well.
Milicic accumulated several double-doubles throughout the season, including a 15-point, 13-rebound effort against George Mason early in the year. He put up 22 points and 13 rebounds in a tough loss to Tulane and played solidly in important wins over Florida Atlantic and UAB in January. After a 26-point effort against Rice in early March, Milicic ended his season by grabbing 16 boards against Temple in a season-ending loss in the league tournament, though his future remains bright.
