6. Jaylin Sellers (UCF)

There was already plenty of excitement for how Sellers’ career was trending as an underclassman. He spent those first two seasons at Ball State, putting up some really nice numbers as a sophomore before transferring to UCF this past offseason. Sellers played well in the MAC but didn’t blink as he transitioned to much more prolific basketball in the Big 12. He was also a major piece on a UCF squad that faced their own major transition.

Sellers averaged 15.9 points and 3.6 rebounds, asserting himself as leading scorer and important playmaker for the Knights. This UCF squad didn’t exactly stand tall in a much tougher Big 12, but they still had memorable moments. Sellers was one of the top scorers in the Big 12 in his first season in the league, becoming one of the conference’s most important offensive players, even on a low-tier team.

His debut with the Knights saw him score 23 against FIU though he’d have 22 points and 11 rebounds against Miami just a few days later. He actually put 34 points in a wild game against Stetson and later helped anchor a major upset with 18 points against Kansas in early January. Sellers scored 24 points in a wild upset win at Texas and matched that total in the season-ending NIT loss to South Florida.
