Honorable Mentions

Touko Tainamo (Denver)

Tainamo is a forward from Finland who’s found success these last three seasons at Denver. Junior year was certainly a notable effort as Tainamo averaged 15.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. He aided the Pioneers to a .500 record and stood out as one of the best scorers and rebounders in the Summit League. He’ll continue his career at Wyoming, hoping to take another step forward as a senior in the MWC.

Jeremiah Williams (Rutgers)

As an underclassman, Williams was a contributor and starter at Temple who showed plenty of potential. His junior year saw him move on to Rutgers with even more potential after missing the previous year while enrolled at Iowa State. He averaged 12.2 points and 3.4 rebounds a game but unfortunately missed most of the season due to eligibility issues from the NCAA. We’ll see if he can reveal his true potential next season.

Rollie Worster (Utah)

After nice contributions as a freshman at Utah State, Worster transferred to Utah in 2021 and followed his head coach Craig Smith. He’d miss half of this season with injury issues, but still put up 9.9 points, 4.9 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game when he was on the court. He helped the Utes get their season off to a hot start before his season ended in mid-January; we’ll see if he bounces back next season after transferring to Nebraska.

Zion Young (Southern Utah)

A Chicago native, Young has spent two seasons apiece at Western Illinois, Oakland, and Southern Utah, missing large chunks of multiple years before settling in this season. A major piece for the Thunderbirds, Young averaged 13.8 points and 3.5 rebounds as Southern Utah’ second-leading scorer. This wasn’t an amazing season for that program, but Young still stood out with his scoring and shooting ability while finally on the court for a full year.

Jan Zidek (Chattanooga)

An intriguing Czech forward, Zidek spent his first four collegiate seasons at Pepperdine, serving in various roles in the Waves’ frontcourt. After transferring this past offseason, Zidek put up 11.9 points and 3.4 rebounds per game while at Chattanooga. He was actually named Sixth Man of the Year in the SoCon and helped lead the Mocs to a 2nd place finish in the conference, rating as one of the league’s most efficient players.
