NCAA Basketball: Top 10 players to wear jersey No. 25 in 2023-24 season
By Joey Loose
8. Jaylen Forbes (Tulane)
Back in 2019, Forbes was considered a Top 100 prospect and joined Alabama in their first season under Nate Oats. Confined to a minor bench role, Forbes opted to transfer after the season and has found outstanding success at Tulane. He’s not quite having the same program success since leaving the Crimson Tide, but he’s put up brilliant numbers in each of his four seasons starring for the Green Wave.
This final season of eligibility saw Forbes average 14.0 points and 3.8 rebounds, numbers that were actually his weakest in four years at Tulane. Regardless, he was a solid scorer for the Green Wave, albeit in a year where the team finished merely 10th in the AAC. A lot went right for Forbes throughout his career in New Orleans, and his senior year had memorable moments as well.
Forbes played well in early wins against California and Fordham before recording 26 points against Furman and 28 versus Southern in a thrilling December run. He later matched that 28-point performance in a strong game against Florida Atlantic, though Tulane found themselves on the wrong end more times than not in league play. He was a solid contributor for the Green Wave despite this disappointing season, including a 24-point game at South Florida in early March.
