6. Lu’Cye Patterson (Charlotte)

A 6’1 guard from Minnesota, Patterson began his college journey at Missouri State. He showed potential off the bench as a freshman before taking a big step forward in his sophomore season. Afterwards, he opted to transfer and landed with Charlotte. He’s now played a season apiece for the 49ers in the CUSA and AAC and was certainly a major part of their transition into the new, tougher league.

Patterson just put up 14.6 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 2.5 assists as a senior, by far the best production of his career. He ate a lot of minutes and scored many points for Charlotte, standing out as their leading scorer. He helped the 49ers exceed expectations in their conference debut, finishing 3rd in the AAC across a 19-win campaign. He also earned Second Team All-AAC honors with his solid contributions across the board.

Patterson had 21 points in an overtime loss against Big 12 foe UCF before scoring 24 against Georgia State a few days later. He transitioned well into the new league with a series of 20-point performances, including a 27-point, 4-steal outing at East Carolina to finish off the regular season. No matter how you slice it, Patterson played a major role in the success for Charlotte this past season, and he’ll hope to continue that success closer to home at Minnesota next year.
