NCAA Basketball: Top 10 players to wear jersey No. 3 in 2023-24 season

3. Marcus Domask (Illinois)
For four seasons, Domask was a star at Southern Illinois, starting every single game and becoming the key cog for the Salukis. After all that success in the MVC, Domask took on a greater challenge in transferring to Illinois, hoping to replicate those kinds of results in the Big Ten. He never got a chance for postseason glory at Southern Illinois but things were certainly different with the Fighting Illini.
Domask’s game did not suffer from the upgrade in leagues, averaging 15.9 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 3.9 assists in his lone season with the Illini. He played an important role for Illinois when Terrence Shannon was suspended and became one of the top scorers in the Big Ten. Domask notched All-Big Ten honors and helped guide his program to their first Elite Eight in nearly two decades, something he likely wasn’t doing back with the Salukis.
His breakout performance was a 33-point outing in a win over Florida Atlantic, followed later by a 32-point game against Northwestern. Not only did his notable play help get the Illini to a Big Ten Tournament title, but he then had a triple-double in the Big Dance, with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists against Morehead State. Domask played his role well for a talented Illinois squad and he certainly improved his future stock with that decision to transfer.
