8. Anthony Dell’Orso (Campbell)

During his first couple of college basketball seasons, Dell’Orso has shown serious potential. The Australian guard landed at Campbell two years ago and was an important part of the story for the Fighting Camels as an underclassman. He was already showing that potential in his freshman year in the Big South, though this past season saw him really stand out while aiding Campbell on their transition to a new league.

Now a sophomore in the CAA, Dell’Orso averaged 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds while making 38% of his 3-pointers and 81% of his free throws. While it became a mediocre debut for the Camels in their new league, Dell’Orso still racked Second Team All-CAA honors and was the team’s leading scorer and rebounder. He did remarkable work and took a magnified step forward in his sophomore season and could have even brighter things ahead.

In just the second game of the season, Dell’Orso put up 35 points in a road loss against East Carolina, demonstrating his offensive talent. He had a nice run of performances, really stepping into his own in the latter half of league play. Dell’Orso had twin 29-point efforts in January wins over Hofstra and Elon and later topped 30 points twice against CAA foes. He averaged nearly 24 points a game in his final ten games with the Camels and will hope to remain successful in the Big 12 at Arizona next season.
