NCAA Basketball: Top 10 players to wear jersey No. 30 in 2023-24 season
By Joey Loose
6. Gabe McGlothan (Grand Canyon)
Before the pandemic began, McGlothan spent his freshman season at Southeast Missouri State. He would transfer to Grand Canyon way back in 2019, sitting out the season interrupted by the pandemic, and then opted to stay in Phoenix under new coach Bryce Drew. After modest gains early on, McGlothan has developed into a starting forward for the Antelopes and a player of importance for the program’s recent ascent.
McGlothan would average 12.8 points and 7.3 rebounds a game, numbers that basically mirrored his efforts from the year before, albeit with less consistency as a shooter. Regardless, he was perhaps the best true shooter in the conference and earned First Team All-WAC honors. McGlothan was also a great rebounder and made major contributions on another season that ended in the NCAA Tournament.
Long before that return trip to the Big Dance, McGlothan had a series of great performance, notably scoring 26 points against Portland and 28 at Seattle. The Antelopes stumbled just a few times this past season, with McGlothan playing really strong basketball for much of that season, including during the WAC Tournament. In the opening round of the Big Dance, he had 12 points and 11 rebounds in the Antelopes’ upset over Saint Mary’s; an incredible cherry on top of a standout career.
