6. Nana Owusu-Anane (Brown)

Not much has come from Brown basketball in recent memory, though Owusu-Anane has worked hard to stand out regardless. The young forward showed potential right off the bat with these Bears but really took a major step forward during his sophomore season. Year three just finished and saw another solid effort both for Owusu-Anane and this Brown program as a whole.

He’d put up 14.7 points and 8.8 rebounds while taking on an even greater role on both sides of the ball. Owusu-Anana showed off as a great scoring threat while also ranking Top 5 in the conference in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks. Second Team All-Ivy League honors almost seem underwhelming when you look at his total contributions, especially when he helped lead Brown to a 4th place finish in the conference.

Though Brown lost their first three games, Owusu-Anana had at least 18 points and 10 rebounds in all three contests, evidence of what was to come as a junior. He’d have several 20-point performances during Ivy League play, though those high scoring efforts would often come in tough losses for the Bears. However, he notably dropped 19 points and 15 rebounds in an upset win over Princeton in the league tournament, though Yale would end his season in the title game.
