NCAA Basketball: Top 10 players to wear jersey No. 32 in 2023-24 season
By Joey Loose
1. Donovan Clingan (Connecticut)
Unquestionably among the stars of last season, Clingan cemented his spot as in college basketball lore by helping take the Huskies to another national title. He played an important role off the bench as a freshman and took on even more in a sophomore year of rousing follow-up success. Clingan is off to the NBA Draft after just two seasons of college ball, but it was quite the second year to set him up for that future in the pros.
During what would be another championship season, Clingan took leaps and bounds, putting up 13.0 points and 7.4 rebounds per game for the Huskies. Surprisingly, Clinghan didn’t win any fancy awards in the Big East, though he was one of the league’s best rebounders and shot blockers. His 64% effective field goal percentage was among the national leaders. He would miss several weeks in January, but Clingan was playing strong ball by season’s end.
Early in the year he put up 29 points against New Hampshire and helped inspire wins over North Carolina and Gonzaga (21 points) before leading the Huskies to a regular season Big East title. Clingan had 22 points and 16 rebounds against Marquette in the title game of the Big East Tournament and later had 22 points and 10 rebounds in the Elite Eight over Illinois. Clingan showed excellent potential and the big man has a bright future ahead in the NBA after winning NCAA Tournaments in both of his collegiate campaigns.
