7. Charles Thompson (Towson)

The last five years for Thompson have all taken place in Towson, not far from his hometown in Maryland. His role has gradually increased with the Tigers, transforming into one of the CAA’s best forwards. Thompson played an important role on both sides of the ball with the Tigers, even in a fifth season that saw a slight back on offense.

During what would become a 20-win season for Towson, Thompson averaged 9.6 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks per game. He remained Towson’s top rebounder and was one of the best rebounders and shot blockers in the conference. In fact, Thompson nabbed Third Team All-CAA honors and a spot on the league’s All-Defense team for a third season in a row. Despite his scoring numbers taking a step down this season, he remained a major part of success for his program.

After 13 points on opening night at Colorado, Thompson’s season featured several double-doubles and a few other nice performances. He had 10 points and 16 rebounds in an overtime loss to Bryant and later helped take the Tigers to 5th place in the CAA. During that time he also dropped 18 points against Delaware and played well during a pair of wins in the league tournament, including 14 points and 6 rebounds against Charleston in their semifinals loss.
