6. Chad Venning (St. Bonaventure)

After playing at Morgan State as an underclassman Venning decided to enter the Transfer Portal. There was nothing outstanding about his production with those Bears, though he certainly took a few steps forward as a sophomore. When he landed at St. Bonaventure that next offseason, things started to turn around for him. That’s the point where things started to click a bit more, including quite a nice effort as a senior.

That aforementioned season saw Venning average 13.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks a game. The Bonnies had another season finishing in the middle of the pack in the A-10, though Venning certainly excelled again. He was actually named Second Team All-A-10, becoming one of the best interior scorers and shot blockers in the conference. The Brooklyn native was also the leading scorer for St. Bonaventure.

Among the notable efforts before league play was 23 points in a road win at Buffalo and a 20-point effort against Siena. Venning showed up against A-10 foes too, with 22-point efforts against both Fordham and La Salle, with decent metrics during the entire year. He’d help lead the Bonnies to a pair of wins at the A-10 Tournament before falling to Duquesne and will look to build on that with Boston College next season.
