5. Neal Quinn (Richmond)

During the early days of his collegiate career, Quinn put in solid work at Lafayette. The forward spent parts of three seasons with the Leopards, really emerging as a great frontcourt weapon by his junior season. He then opted to transfer and has been an important contributor since arriving in Richmond a few years ago. In fact, this past season was perhaps the most successful of his journey.

Quinn averaged 12.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 3.9 assists and took home Second Team All-A-10 honors for his efforts. Not only did he finish among the conference’s leaders in blocks and assists, Quinn was a major playmaker on a Spiders squad that won the regular season title in the A-10. His efforts helped a dramatic turnaround after an 11th place finish in his first year in Richmond.

He had a few 20-point efforts early in the season, including against Boston College and UNLV back in November. Quinn later dropped 23 points on Buffalo before playing solid ball during a prosperous conference season. He would have multiple 21-point performances against Saint Joseph’s in March, though the latter was an upset in the league tournament. His season ended with a mediocre effort in the NIT, though it was certainly a breakthrough success in Richmond.
