1. Coleman Hawkins (Illinois)

When he arrived at Illinois back in 2020, Hawkins was a solid frontcourt player with potential, though he was buried behind Kofi Cockburn as an underclassman. Learning from the other forwards on this roster and in the Big Ten, Hawkins has made great strides in recent seasons and is coming off a fantastic senior year both for himself and the Fighting Illini.

Hawkins averaged 12.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.7 assists, knocking down 37% of his 3-pointers with career-bests in virtually every statistic. He emerged as a major threat on a strong Illinois squad and was named Third Team All-Big Ten for his efforts. Hawkins had great numbers across the board, sitting near the top of the Big Ten in a myriad of categories. Most importantly, he also played a critical role in Illinois’s Big Ten Tournament title and their run to the Elite Eight.

After a slow start to the season, Hawkins came on strong for the Fighting Illini, including 18 points against FDU and 21 against Michigan a few weeks later. His most standout performance was a 30-point, 5-steal effort against Iowa in late February. He’d also score in double figures in all three of Illinois’s wins in the Big Dance. Highly regarded for being a total player, we’ll have to see how he fares at Kansas State for one final campaign, but he clearly was appreciated in Champaign.
