8. Chris Doherty (Northeastern)

Doherty’s long collegiate journey began six years ago at Notre Dame, though little came from his time in South Bend. He only appeared in 17 games across two seasons with the Fighting Irish before landing at Northeastern back in 2020. Certainly a far more productive player since transferring, Doherty has spent recent years emerging as a top-flight forward in the CAA.

Despite the fact that his Huskies won just 12 games and finished near the bottom of the league standings, Doherty became the leading scorer and rebounder by averaging 13.6 points and 6.7 rebounds this season. Even though he was overlooked by the conference’s awards, Doherty had a very solid season as a frontcourt presence, basically becoming the offense and leader on the boards during a challenging season in Boston.

Doherty had 18 points and 10 rebounds in a nice road win at East Carolina a few days before a 20-point performance against Georgia Southern. His Huskies wouldn’t have this same type of success later in the year, though Doherty would have several other 20-point efforts. Among that group was a 27-point, 13-rebound game against William & Mary, though a pretty lifeless season would end for Northeastern early in the league tournament.
