NCAA Basketball: Top 10 players to wear jersey No. 33 in 2023-24 season

6. Ben Gregg (Gonzaga)
During the first three seasons of his career Gregg wasn’t exactly a notable piece for Gonzaga. He didn’t start a single game and wasn’t exactly getting great minutes on Bulldogs rosters loaded with talent. The Oregon native started to contribute more in his third season but it wasn’t until this past year when we saw him start to become an essential frontcourt piece for this program.
Gregg’s senior season saw him average 9.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while knocking down 37% of his 3-pointers and a sensational 73% inside the arc. He still wasn’t exactly the key piece for Gonzaga, but clearly Gregg was making his minutes count. He was among the best in the WCC in rebounds, steals, and several other metrics while clearly scoring on a high volume of his interior touches. All of this came in another standout season for the Bulldogs, who marched to the Sweet Sixteen.
His best work came during league play, though Gregg did drop 14 points in a nice win over USC back in early December. Later on, he’d have 22 points against San Diego and top that with 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 assists against those same Toreros a few weeks later. His strong play helped guide the Bulldogs to more conference success, including a 17-point, 11-rebound game against San Francisco in the WCC semifinals. He also had 15 points in the team’s great win over Kansas in the Big Dance.
