5. Caleb Kenney (Holy Cross)

Kenney came from Richmond, Virginia before arriving in Massachusetts, where he’s spent the first three years of his collegiate career at Holy Cross. Recent history has been quite unkind to those Crusaders and this program hasn’t won a lot of games since Kenney’s arrival. Regardless, he’s settled into a prominent role for Holy Cross and really showcased his talents as a junior.

Year three saw Kenney average 11.9 points, 6.5 assists, and 2.2 blocks per game. Not only was he a potent scorer and solid rebounder, Kenney also led the Patriot League in blocks, 2-point field goals, and effective field goal percentage. His contributions on both ends earned him the nod both as Second Team All-Patriot and as the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year. Keep in mind that Holy Cross won only 10 games and finished 8th in the conference, though Kenney’s impact was still appreciated.

Albeit not his finest effort, Kenney helped lead a dramatic upset win at Georgetown in the opening week and then scored 20 points in a loss to Sacred Heart. His talents were on full display against Patriot League rivals, with the highlight perhaps being a 12-point, 12-rebound, 7-block game against Boston University in late January. He had a handful of nice games, including hanging 25 points on Bucknell, though he and his Crusaders are certainly hoping for better strides next year.
