2. Braden Huff (Gonzaga)

Gonzaga has never had a shortage of talent in recent memory and Huff seems to be one of the new faces ensuring that that trend continues. A freshman from the suburbs of Chicago, he arrived with the Bulldogs this past offseason and would find himself a pretty intriguing role with the Bulldogs. Huff was not a starter and didn’t play a ton of minutes, but he made it count when he was on the court for Mark Few.

Huff’s first taste of college ball saw him average 9.3 points and 3.4 rebounds while knocking down 70% of his 2-point field goals and a decent clip from beyond the arc as well. He was named to the WCC All-Freshman team and emerged as the league’s most accurate interior scorer. Remember again that he did all of this with limited minutes, helping Gonzaga to another trip to the Big Dance and other success as a role player.

The year started well, including 23 points in 14 minutes against non-D1 Eastern Oregon, though Huff had plenty of notable games this season. In January, he scored 26 points in a win at San Diego and had 25 in a blowout win over Portland a few weeks later. He wasn’t the primary option by any means for the Bulldogs but showed plenty of promise and helped them reach the Sweet Sixteen again.
