4. Noah Carter (Missouri)

This Iowa native found success initially in his home state, as Carter spent the first three years of his college career at Northern Iowa. He actually developed into a standout for the Panthers, but used a brilliant junior season to elevate himself and wound up transferring to Missouri. These two seasons with the Tigers have been a mixed bag for the program, with this past season not exactly brilliant, though he’s continued to produce even in one of the nation’s toughest leagues.

That fifth collegiate season saw Carter average 11.0 points and 4.8 rebounds per game, though with the weakest shooting numbers of his career. He was an important weapon for Missouri, albeit in a dreadful season that saw the Tigers lose every single conference game they played in the SEC. This former All-MVC player still had nice production and decent scoring, but he alone couldn’t dig Missouri out of this hole.

Carter scored in double figures in nonconference wins over Minnesota and Pittsburgh on the road, though the wins were few and far between outside of that. He had no shortage of production, scoring 20 points at Kentucky and 23 against South Carolina in early January defeats. A few more 20-point efforts came later in the year, though it certainly wasn’t enough for this Missouri team. This wasn’t Carter’s best season by any stretch, though he still showed his talent when he could.
