A lot happens in a single year of college basketball. Most of the excitement comes from the on-court action from November to early April but that’s far from where the storylines end. We’re near the end of May and are nearly two months into an offseason full of intrigue from the coaching carousel and Transfer Portal. The havoc seems to be unending.

For some, it’ll feel like an eternity until the season begins just over five months from now, and offseason news isn’t enough to fill that gap. Luckily, today’s focus isn’t on offseason news, even though there’s been plenty of it for every team in the nation. Instead we’re looking back at the season that was, and this isn’t just some look at NCAA Tournament moments but the season as a whole.

In fact, today is the continuous of a series that began last week. We’ve been taking the time to rank players based not on their team or conference but on the jersey numbers that they wear. It’s a somewhat random way to consider players but that makes it fun and interesting as well. We’ve broken down some very talented players from last season already and that continues as the focus turns today.

With several of the single-digit numbers complete, the players wearing #4 get the spotlight in this piece. Much like those previous rankings, more than 300 D1 players wore #4 this past season and we had plenty of names to consider. It’s unsurprising to see many great players left out completely, though we’ve also compiled a list of honorable mentions with limited details. Let’s just get right into these names, including a few of this season’s best players.
