1. RJ Davis (North Carolina)

As a sophomore, Davis helped lead North Carolina to the national title game in what was a fantastic season both for him and the program. His play wasn’t bad as a junior even as his program struggled, but it was clear that more of the onus would fall on him as a senior, especially with major changes around him on that roster. We now see that Davis would prove himself more than capable of carrying the load for the Tar Heels.

Davis averaged 21.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists while making just a hair under 40% of his 3-pointers. He more than covered for the departure of Caleb Love, leading the Tar Heels to an impressive 17-3 mark in league play. Not only did North Carolina win the regular season title but Davis was named ACC Player of the Year for his efforts while also being named First Team All-American. The ACC’s leading scorer clearly had a tremendous senior season.

When things mattered, Davis showed up, scoring at least 26 points in each of a five-game stretch early in the season including against Tennessee, UConn, and Kentucky. Davis would drop 36 points on Wake Forest and smash Florida State with a 42-point outing while also leading his squad to a sweep over rival Duke. He’d lead the Tar Heels to the Sweet Sixteen, with 20 points apiece in their two wins before Alabama ended his season, though his Tar Heels story is not yet fully written.
