5. Wade Taylor IV (Texas A&M)

Part of great success in recent years, Taylor has been quite the player for Texas A&M. He helped lead the Aggies on an NIT run as a freshman as more of a role player but really developed into the guy for this program in recent years. He’s fresh off a junior year that not only saw him take another step forward as a player, but one of the most successful for Texas A&M in recent years.

Taylor built on a great sophomore season, averaging 19.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists this year as a junior. He earned First Team All-SEC honors for a second straight season and ranked among the league’s leaders in points, assists, and steals. An efficient point guard, Taylor guided Texas A&M into the second round of the Big Dance, coming up just short in an overtime classic against Houston.

Taylor helped the Aggies pick up some nice wins early in the season and also scored 35 in a tough loss to Florida Atlantic and another 34 against Houston. He upped the ante with 41 points in a game at Arkansas and was a consistent weapon throughout league play in the SEC. Taylor topped 20 points in all five of the Aggies’ postseason games, though he shot poorly in a 21-point effort in that second loss to Houston. Still, Taylor was a bit of everything and very important to the cause this season.
