The NCAA basketball season provides no shortage of action. Throughout this past season, we had a little bit of everything: memorable milestones, buzzer-beaters, shocking upsets, and a lot more. Each season provides something new in this incredible sport and also features a bevy of new faces making their mark on the court. That’s the beauty of college athletics, casting a new crew of players every few years for these programs.

We’re not necessarily looking forward today; we’re looking into the recent past. That aforementioned college basketball season ended less than two months ago with another national title for Connecticut. However impressive the Huskies run became; that was far from the only notable moment or memory from the season. After all, there are 362 D1 programs and each of them contributed in making this season special.

Thus we’re looking back at last season yet again, this time continuing an article series that began just a week ago. Instead of looking and considering players based on their team or their conference, we’re undergoing the process of breaking them down based on their uniform numbers. There’s an inherent randomness to jersey numbers; one particular one doesn’t equate to better play, but it’s still been an interesting process to see these breakdowns.

Each of the single digit numbers between #0 and #5 had at least three hundred different basketball players this past season. It’s no surprise that those small numbers were so popular, meaning we have quite a list of names to consider today. Our investigation into the best who wore #5 had intriguing results, and we’re about to share not just our list but an extensive group of honorable mentions. Who do you expect will land at the top of this list?
