NCAA Basketball: Top-20 mid-major teams to buy stock into entering 2024-25 season
No. 10 - Arkansas State Red Wolves
It didn’t take long for Bryan Hodgson to establish the Arkansas State Red Wolves as a force on the recruiting trail. Bryan Hodgson, the former lead recruiter at Alabama under Nate Oats, has worked his recruiting chops in Jonesboro, landing a top-50 composite recruiting class in the country. That’s an impressive feat, especially at the mid-major level.
Three-star big man Josh Hill headlines the Red Wolves recruiting class as they look to build off its 20-win campaign last season. Kobe Julien, a high-scoring veteran transfer from Louisiana, Taryn Todd and Derrian Ford will expect to be key contributors. Expect significant improvement in the second year under Bryan Hodgson, making Arkansas State a promising mid-major program to buy stock in.
No. 9 - Princeton Tigers
After a historic run to the Sweet 16 in 2023, the Princeton Tigers put together a strong campaign last season, finishing with an impressive 24-5 record. Despite a bitter ending to its season -- a loss to Brown in the Ivy League Tournament Semifinals and a first-round exit in the NIT -- the Tigers don’t expect to skip a beat entering the 2024-25 season.
Caden Pierce and Xaivian Lee -- two players who took big-time second-year jumps last season -- are back. They accounted for nearly 44% of Princeton’s scoring last season. Blake Peters and Dalen Davis expect to take on expanded roles and Deven Austin will look to get healthy. With Mitch Henderson building a well-rounded roster, the Tigers are a talented mid-major team worth investing in come November.
