NCAA Basketball: Top-25 impact incoming recruiting classes entering 2024-25 season
15. Missouri Tigers
The Missouri Tigers’ 2023-24 campaign was a season for the history books…and not for any of the right reasons.
Missouri finished the season with an 8-24 overall record, going a woeful 0-18 in conference play. After making the NCAA Tournament in 2023, it was a steep fall from grace.
And now the Tigers will look to put last year’s disaster behind them.
Thankfully for Dennis Gates, the Tigers, on paper, should be much improved. Incoming to Columbia is the 4th-best composite recruiting class in the country, according to 24/7 Sports.
Despite landing notable pieces from the portal, such as Tony Perkins (Iowa) and Mark Mitchell (Duke), it’s their core group of five incoming freshmen who will be instrumental in flipping the script for Missouri basketball.
However, the two names to watch for Missouri are four-star SG/SF Annor Boateng and four-star big man Peyton Marshall. Boateng, known for his high-energy defense and ability to get downhill, is expected to be firmly in the rotation, likely behind UT-Martin transfer Jacob Crews.
Peyton Marshall, a 7’0, 300-pound big man from Overtime Elite, is one of the more physically imposing recruits in the 2024 recruiting class. Expect him to be an instant-impact backup piece for Mark Mitchell and Josh Gray in the interior.
In a sense, the only way is up from here for Missouri -- and its incoming recruiting class will have an instant impact on the Tigers' hopeful resurgence this upcoming season.
