NCAA Basketball: Top-25 impact incoming recruiting classes entering 2024-25 season
4. Baylor Bears
The ascent of Baylor basketball has been remarkable -- and it is paying dividends on the recruiting trail. Despite failing to advance to the second weekend in three straight years after winning the NCAA Tournament in 2021, the Bears under Scott Drew have been far from irrelevant, earning a three-seed or better each year.
And they will expect to be just as good, if not better, in 2024-25 thanks to their incoming recruiting class.
Headlining the Bears’ recruiting class is five-star recruit VJ Edgecombe, a 6-foot-5 SF who recently had a dazzling performance in the Olympic Qualifiers for the Bahamas National Team. Edgecombe, who consistently finds himself near the top of many 2025 NBA Draft Mock Boards, has the makings to be one of college basketball’s most impactful freshmen next season.
In addition to Edgecombe, four-star PG Rob Wright and four-star SF Jason Asemote are other highly intriguing pieces, too. Even if they may not crack the starting lineup thanks to the Jeremy Roach/Jayden Nunn backcourt and Jalen Calestine and Norchad Omier in the frontcourt, their depth will be instrumental to Baylor’s success.
Scott Drew has it rolling in Waco. With a highly-ranked recruiting class in the mix, the Bears will be even more dangerous come November.
