23. LSU Tigers

The LSU Tigers made tangible strides last season, improving their SEC win total from two in 202-23 to nine in 2023-24, earning a postseason bid to the NIT.

Entering the third year of the Matt McMahon era, the Tigers 2024-25 outlook will be highly dependent on their new-look backcourt in Cam Carter (Kansas State) and Jordan Sears (UT-Martin), which has generated the majority of LSU’s offseason headlines.

While LSU isn’t expected to turn many heads this season, it is their incoming recruiting class that can certainly do so.

The Tigers currently have the 13th-best composite rank recruiting class in the country, according to 24/7 Sports, headlined by three players currently ranked inside the top 80 of 24/7 Sports individual player rankings.

Incoming to Baton Rouge includes the likes of four-star CG Curtis Givens II, a versatile combo guard who will be an integral piece in backing up Cam Carter and Jordan Sears, as well as four-star SG Vyctorious Miller, who can be one of the top scorers in the class of 2024 when his shots are falling, according to recruiting analyst Travis Branham.

Lastly, McMahon landed 6-foot-10 big man Robert Miller who can both stretch the floor and provide interior rim protection -- an elite combination for an incoming freshman -- making it likely that Miller will crack the rotation as a freshman.

The 2024-25 LSU Tigers have the pieces to be competitive -- and it will be their elite instant-impact recruiting class that can get them over the hump in the grueling SEC.
