8. Louisville Cardinals

With former Charleston head coach Pat Kelsey arrived, he had an empty roster to rebuild, while managing the perceived prestige drop from the past two dismal years. Of the 11 transfers, three followed Coach Kelsey over from the Cougars. Guards Reyne Smith (12.8 ppg) and Kobe Rodgers (9.7 ppg) were starting guards, while James Scott (5.0 ppg and 3.4 rpg) was an all-freshman big man from the CAA.

As for the other newcomers from the portal, there are a few notable power conference transfers. Chucky Hepburn is a three-year starter from Wisconsin, averaging just under double figures while also being an all-league defender. J’Vonne Hadley scored over 11 ppg at Colorado, while Koren Johnson comes from Washington, earning Pac-12 6th Man of the Year honors after producing over 11 ppg.

The big pickup production-wise was Terrence Edwards, a 6’6 wing from James Madison who averaged 17.2 ppg and 3.4 rpg. He was the Sun Belt Player of the Year and likely starter on the wing, joined by Long Beach transfer forward, Aboubacar Traore (12.0 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 4.5 rpg).

And even without BYU transfer Aly Khalifa (expected to redshirt), the frontcourt will be solid too. Fellow BYU transfer Noah Waterson is a stretch option at the four-spot, while Kasean Pryor averaged 13.0 ppg and 7.9 rpg at South Florida, shooting 35% from deep. Frank Anselem-Ibe comes from Georgia to add depth, something this program has lacked the past few years.
