NCAA Basketball: Top 25 team winners from 2024 transfer portal results
2. Kansas Jayhawks
In the offseason, there was a week where one team dominated the NCAA Basketball portal discussion, and landed several big-name transfers in the backcourt. That’s Kansas, who lost starters Kevin McCullar Jr. and Johnny Furphy but were easily able to replace them with power conference players.
The big name of the group is AJ Storr, who led Wisconsin with 16.8 ppg on 43% shooting. The 6’6 guard and All-Big Ten started is one of the most proven players from the portal and will slide on on the wing to start. Zeke Mayo is a 6’3 guard from South Dakota State, who led the team with 18.8 ppg and 3.5 apg, earning Summit League Player of the Year.
Rylan Griffen is a former top-50 prospect who started at Alabama last season, scoring 11.2 ppg on 39% shooting from deep. Shakeel Moore started 66 games in three years at Mississippi State and is a proven ball-handler to add depth, while Noah Shelby comes over from Rice and gives them even more depth off the bench as well.
Kansas originally landed former Florida guard Riley Kugel too but he de-committed and went to Mississippi State instead. Still, the Jayhawks’ offseason portal haul was one of the best and would’ve been No. 1, until a certain big man made a late decision to push another team ahead.
