21. McNeese State Cowboys

Before Coach Will Wade arrived, McNeese State had 11 straight winning seasons. Last year, the team won 30 games and dominated the Southland, thanks to several quality transfers that the conference rarely ever sees. And they’re expected to dominate the league again, returning three double-digit scores and having another quality transfer class.

The big name is Quadir Copeland, a 6’6 wing from Syracuse. In 22 mpg off the bench, he averaged 9.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg, and 2.8 apg on 48% shooting from the field. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he ended up being the Southland POY, replacing departing leading scorer, Shahada Wells.

The other incoming guards are Brandon Murray, a well-traveled wing, and Sincere Parker, who averaged 15.9 ppg in 16 games at Saint Louis and had multiple 30+ point games at the A-10 level. Murray was a double-digit scorer in the past at both LSU and Georgetown and is the kind of player who should dominate the Southland.

Even the trio of incoming frontcourt players (Bryant Selebangue, Joe Charles, and Jerome Brewer Jr.) are sold, with Charles averaging nearly a double-double at Louisiana. A good case can be made that McNeese State has the five best incoming transfers in the conference, making them a good bet to not only win the conference but go unbeaten throughout its schedule.
