5. Memphis at Florida Atlantic

Although this game lacks the previously anticipated shine as both teams have deviated from their preseason expectations, no doubt it carries NCAA Tournament implications as we close the regular season.

According to BracketMatrix’s most recent update, Florida Atlantic currently stands on the 10-seed line. Since Florida Atlantic’s 96-95 2OT win over Arizona on Dec. 23, the Owls have shown a slow but steady decline in their NET ranking and have dropped a few questionable defeats in that span.

Given the fact Florida Atlantic owns only two Q1 wins and holds two Q4 losses, the Owls are by no means a lock just yet and will need a strong outing against Memphis -- a team still eyeing an at-large bid -- to feel relatively safe come Selection Sunday.

Memphis, who has been playing better as of late, are winners of four straight and have seen their extremely thin at-large bid hopes stay afloat for the time being. A Q1 win over the Owls would give the Tigers their third Q1 victory but more work will need to be done in the conference tournament if the Tigers want to give themselves a realistic shot at sneaking in the field of 68.
