10. Creighton (23-9)
Something special has been cooking in recent years for Greg McDermott at Creighton. The Bluejays advanced to the Elite Eight last season and have their eyes on a similar type of run this year. Creighton did get big wins over UConn and Marquette in recent weeks, finishing the regular season a very respectable 14-6 in Big East play.
Unfortunately, their stint at the Big East Tournament was far shorter than expected. The Bluejays earned the 3-seed and were upset in their first game in the quarterfinals, losing 78-73 to Providence. Both Trey Alexander and Ryan Kalkbrenner scored 19 while both Steven Ashworth and Baylor Scheierman added 16. The Bluejays were bested by a Friars squad squarely on the bubble that really needed that win on Thursday.
With what this team has accomplished this season, nobody is giving up on them after one faulty performance in New York. The Bluejays have one of the most talented starting lineups in the nation and have shown their value time and time again. Their limited depth and recent shooting struggles could be an issue, but we’ll have to see what kind of matchup Creighton gets in the opening round.
