23. Colorado State (13-3)

A nine-game winning streak is impressive to start any season, but these Rams caught attention for how they handled Creighton back in late November. Colorado State certainly hasn’t been perfect this season, but have fared well and still look great in the metrics, even with some recent troubles in conference play.

Just a few days after a tough road loss against Utah State, the Rams fell away from home for a second straight time, falling 65-58 at Boise State. Colorado State struggled with turnovers, but did get another 15-point effort from Isaiah Stevens in what was a mediocre shooting day for the team as a whole.

No matter how you slice it, Colorado State was dealt a rough start to conference play in what looks to be a loaded Mountain West. They’ve already faced two of the league’s very best away from home and they’ll repeat that process in the coming weeks again. Conference losses were going to happen; it’s how Stevens and company respond in the weeks ahead, especially in far more winnable opportunities. These Rams host Air Force and UNLV next week and should be 3-2 in the league in seven days’ time.
