20. TCU (13-3)

The Horned Frogs got off to a winning start this season, but their schedule wasn’t exactly marvelous out of the gates. They barely survived Georgetown and lost to teams like Nevada and Clemson, with inconsistent play especially against stronger opponents. After almost winning at Kansas last week, it looked like there was potential here for TCU and they certainly realized it this week.

They started a banner week on Wednesday with an 80-71 home win over Oklahoma. Emanuel Miller continued what’s been another nice campaign with 27 points and 9 rebounds against the Sooners. As if that weren’t enough, the Horned Frogs got a second Top 10 win on Saturday, triumphing 68-67 over Houston on a last-second shot from Miller. A balanced effort helped deliver the biggest win of the season for TCU, who suddenly sit 2-1 in Big 12 play.

TCU took care of business early in the year, failing to build their resume. Suffice to say they’ve started to do that in recent weeks, taking advantage of these opportunities in a strong and deep Big 12. We don’t know what exactly the ceiling will be for these Horned Frogs, who have been efficient on offense in recent weeks. For now, we’ll see how a road trip to Cincinnati and home date with Iowa State goes.
