12. Auburn Tigers

2023-24 season record: 27-8 (13-5 in SEC)

The Tigers had another strong season, thanks to having one of the best frontcourts in NCAA Basketball. They will lose Jaylin Williams, along with a trio of guards from the backcourt in Aden Holloway, Tre Donaldson, and KD Johnson.

The good news for Auburn is that they already landed one of the top guards from the portal so far in JP Pegues. The 6’1 guard averaged 18.4 ppg and 4.8 apg as last at Furman and was an All-SoCon performer. He’ll be paired with the returning Denver Jones, as well as five-star incoming freshman guard, Tahaad Pettiford.

Forwards Chaney Johnson, Chris Moore, and Chad-Baker Mazara can come back for another year to add to the frontcourt depth. But their top-25 ranking will come down to the pending decision of Johni Broome, the star big man for Auburn. He led the team with 16.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg this past season and has a 5th-year available, as well as possible NBA Draft interest.

If Broome is back, Auburn should be in good shape for next season. If he’s gone, they’ll have to hope that the backcourt is ready to take over on offense.
