2. Tennessee Volunteers

  • 24-7 overall, 14-4 in ACC (1st)

Dalton Knecht. Is that enough of a reason? The Tennessee Volunteers suffered a tough home loss to Kentucky on Saturday, but regardless, they still managed to maintain the SEC regular season title and did it with a consistent basis and foundation of elite scoring, playmaking, and stout play on both sides of the ball.

Dalton Knecht is the catalyst of the offense, averaging 21.6 PPG, but Tennessee is filled with talent surrounding him. They have one of the best pure guards in college basketball who has a plethora of experience in Zakai Zeigler, who not only averages 11.6 PPG but also 6.0 AST and 1.9 STLs per game.

They also get key contributions from returning starters Josiah-Jordan-James and Santiago Vescovi, and junior Jonas Aidoo, who mans the inside and leads the team in rebounds (7.4) and blocks (2.1).

This could be Rick Barnes's most talented team he has had since, debatably, the Grant Williams and Admiral Schofield team in 2018. To match up with UConn, you need scorers, consistent guard play, and athletes on the outside and the inside. Tennessee checks all of those boxes.
