There’s never a dull moment in the college basketball universe, especially when the calendar reads January. This isn’t exactly the iconic month in this sport, but we’re nearing ever closer and the action on the court is really exciting. These next few weeks before the NCAA Tournament will reveal a lot about the hundreds of college basketball teams in the nation.

The nearly three months of this season have given us unforgettable moments and amazing performances. It’s given heartbreak and happiness and taught us a lot about these programs and conferences. You’ll find impressive teams in nearly every conference, with some extremely tight races all around the country.

Amidst all the drama, several teams are starting to stand out, both at the national level and in those conference races. We’ve been taking a careful look at some of the best teams in the nation on a weekly basis, but those opinions can wildly change, especially now that we’re in conference play. Most of these teams are in their toughest stretches of the entire season, especially in tight leagues like the Big 12 or SEC. Someone’s fantastic week can easily be followed by defeat and despair.

With this in mind, we’re continuing our weekly series by presenting these Top 25 rankings. It’s been another basketball-filled week and we’re updating the teams based on their performance in these recent days. There’s no absolute science to ranking college basketball teams and things aren’t exactly getting clearer further into the season.
