22. Utah State (18-2)

What Utah State is doing this season is pretty extraordinary, putting on quite the show in their first season under Danny Sprinkle. Of course the Aggies were a fine program in recent seasons, but there’s a lot of new things at Utah State this season: losing is not one of them. The Aggies’ two losses came on the road against tough Bradley and New Mexico squads and they kept the momentum going this week for sure.

The Aggies had another prime opportunity on the road and took advantage this time, holding on for a wild 90-84 overtime win at Boise State. The Aggies got what is certainly their best road win of the season to date and played a great offensive game in the process. Darius Brown II led with 19 points, both Ian Martinez and Josh Uduje added 18, and the team made their free throws and shot nearly 50% from the field.

Boise State is no ranked team, but were certainly a tough opponent for these Aggies, who did what they could to claw out that win. Not only has Utah State accumulated 18 wins already this season but they’re sitting at 6-1 in what’s become a very strong Mountain West this season. There are still numerous tough draws in the weeks ahead, including a tough test at San Diego State next weekend. Can Utah State keep this hot start going all the way into March?
