Oklahoma State Basketball: 10 candidates to replace Mike Boynton as Head Coach
By Joey Loose
Will Wade
The names on today’s list are completely alphabetical, so it’s just a coincidence that the final name is the fourth-straight coach who’s in his first season at a program as their head coach. The situation with Wade is far different from the others we’ve recently mentioned, especially with his past experience and controversies, with LSU firing him after several violations.
A graduate of Clemson, Wade’s first full-time coaching gig was under Tommy Amaker at Harvard. He would assist Shaka Smart and the 2011 VCU team to the Final Four before his head coaching days began at Chattanooga. He worked well with the Mocs before taking over at VCU and later LSU. There’s been certain success for Wade at multiple schools, most notably this season. He took the job at McNeese in the offseason and has the Cowboys 30-3 and winners of the Southland, his third team he’s led to the Big Dance.
That finishes off our deep dive into a number of potential coaches for Oklahoma State to consider in their coaching hunt. We could’ve listed several other names, but who do you think is on top of the Cowboys’ list to be their next leader? Can the next head coach take them out of the basement of the Big 12?
